My favorite beach in Copenhagen is Svanemøllen Strand. Some might find this odd, since it’s much smaller than some of the other beaches that Copenhagen can offer. That doesn’t matter for me. It is small, yes. But I think of it as a “city beach”, with a small boat harbor on one side, houses on the other and apartments on the third. Actually I find it quite impressing that you can fit a beach in between all of that. And fortune for us living in the city.

When I visit the beach on a sunny day, it’s always totally packed. It’s like a puzzle to find a place for your towel. However, in the evening, with the sunset behind some of the houses, it’s usually quite empty. I’ve been there to BBQ with some friends several times and it’s always just as good.

Everyone knows that you can’t visit the beach without swimming. I prefer to slowly walk out in the water (usually I need a few tries before I dare to go more than 10 meters), but if you’re one of the brave ones, you can jump in directly from the pier.
