If you have the pleasure of staying in Copenhagen for a longer period of time, it might be fun to travel a bit outside town as well. Denmark is great in that way, because everything is so close. It takes less than an hour by train to go to several interesting places and cities. Here are three one day activities a train ride away, which I think are great.
Visit Malmö in Sweden
It takes 30 minutes by train to go to Malmö. Even if Malmö is the third biggest city in Sweden, one day is enough to experience it. Start of by having brunch at Lilla Kafferosteriet (Baltzarsgatan 24), before you walk the main streets and visit Form & Design Center (Lilla torg 9), a free design center that always has interesting exhibitions. Have a late lunch at Café Njutbar (Stora Nygatan 23), before you head towards Folkets Park and Möllevångstorget for dinner and beer.
Train: Take the “Øresundstrain” from Copenhagen Central Station and get off at Malmö Centralstation.
Louisiana - an amazing art museum
Louisiana, the art museum, is famous in all of Scandinavia. They have really interesting exhibitions (and a great restaurant – I love the food there!) and events. During the summer they host a literature festival, which definitely is worth a visit. Louisiana is situated in Humlebæk, a small town at the coast. Last time I visited I biked from Copenhagen (it took two hours), but the train stops there as well. If you visit at a sunny day, the small beaches in Humlebæk are beautiful.

Helsingør - a small town by the sea
I have sweet childhood memories from Helsingør. You can take the ferry between Helsingør and the Swedish town Helsingborg, and I visited Helsingør several times when I was younger. I still believe it’s worth a visit. It’s a tiny town, but there are several nice cafés and shops at the main street. Make sure to pass the castle, Kronborg. You need to pay to get inside the castle, but you can walk around it for free, which is quite cool as well.
