Stepping down the stairs to Den Vandrette and entering the small wine bar and restaurant immediately makes you fell at home. It’s relaxed, and if you had imagined something very elegant and sophisticated, you’ll get disappointed. This is for everyone and not just the wine elite in town.

The concept is quite simple. Den Vandrette serves organic, biodynamic and nature wines in different colors. In the menu, there is a small selection of dishes. More classis ones, like delicious slices of some ham, mozzarella and a small salad. If you want something more, you can get their bigger dish, which consisted of lamb and lenses the evening we visited.

Together with the lamb, we got two glasses of read wine. A “safe card” from Italy, that everyone probably would find harmless, but good. The other wine looked harmless as well, but tasted nothing like. When looking at the glass, it looked like fruit lemonade. However, when I put my nose in the glass, it smelled like horseshit and stables. Ohh my! Then, tasting the wine, there’s yet another impression. It actually tastes really good. Especially with the lamb.

The evening goes on. The people working here knows what they do, so we just lean back and let them decide what’s ending up in our glasses. Den Vandrette has a big selection of wines, and that’s also where they shine the most. They next time I’m close to Nyhavn and want a glass or two, this is where I’ll go.
