A few days before the beer bar Mikkeller & Friends opened at Stefansgade, my friends and I were standing outside, pointing and commenting on what we saw. We were confused. It was painted in a swimming pool-blue color, had light wooden furniture and looked like a mix between pre-school and a hotel reception at Ibiza.

When it opened a few days later, we went. I was curious to see if a place looking like an Ibiza pre-school really can be good for drinking beer. I ordered “something like a normal Carlsberg, just with a little bit more personality” and got the best beer I’ve had for a long time. I tried again, and asked for something “a bit darker, but not too dark”, and got a just as good beer again. Win!

Mikkeller & Friends might not look like a traditional beer bar, however they sure know how to serve beer. They offer more than 40 different ones, and if you can’t find one you like here, you’ll probably end up looking forever.
