Ved Buen - a local café close to Bispebuen | Guide to CopenhagenVed Buen - a local café close to Bispebuen | Guide to Copenhagen

On a bike ride a few weeks ago I biked pass a small café straight after Bispebuen. Bispebuen is quite a weird thing. It’s the bridge which leads some of the highway traffic in to Copenhagen. Ask anyone in Copenhagen (that dosen’t own a car) and they would tell you it’s the most stupid thing ever built in this town. What were they thinking when they built a big bridge leading highway traffic in to town? (They probably didn’t.)

Anyway, back to the café. The space under Bispebuen haven’t been working for years. I mean, what space under a dark and sad bridge works well? But a few years ago the municipality started to do something about it. They started to do events under the bridge to make it more fun and safe, and one year ago this small and cute café, Ved Buen, opened just next to the bridge.

My first visit to Ved Buen was Tuesday afternoon. Except from my friend Karen and I, there was only one other guest at the café, sitting in the sofa in the corner working at her computer. Ved Buen has free wifi, and Karen and I discussed that it seems to be quite a nice place for working a few hours. If I would do that, I would order a cappuccino and sit next to the high table in the window, overlooking the street outside, while trying to get some work done.

A few words about the selection before ending. Ved Buen serves good coffee, have lactose free milk and the rumor says their cold brew is worth a try. They have a small breakfast and a few sandwiches at the menu as well. It’s worth a visit, if you’re visiting the neighborhood. And if you live close by, I’m pretty sure it’s a good place to be a regular.

ADDRESS: Ved Buen, Bispeengen 1, Frederiksberg
PRICE: 35 dkk for a coffee
