La Bachina | Guide to Copenhagen

When Copenhagen is bathing in sunshine some places are more fun to visit than others. Saturday night the Film Critic Guy and I biked all the way to the end of Refshalvøen. Almost as far out as you can get, just next to the sea, you’ll find La Banchina.

It’s places like La Banchina that makes me love Copenhagen so much. The place is tiny inside, there are just two small tables. But outside it’s true magic. When we parked our bikes people sat all over the small pier which is part of La Banchina. Many had bottles of rosé and paper plates with food in front of them. Some dipped their feet in the water and one man was even taking a small swim between the glasses of wine. After a while a boat came and stopped for food and some wine.

La Banchina only serves one dish. Saturday it was white fish, mashed potatoes and fresh herbs. It might not sound of that much, but it sure was. And together with some bread with olive oil and a glass of rosé, it dosen’t get any better.

ADDRESS: La Banchina, Refshalevej 141a, Refshalvøen
PRICE: When we visited a plate of food was 80 dkk, bread and olive oil was 25 dkk and a bottle of (really good) rosé 300 dkk
NEAREST STOP: It’s slightly tricky to get to La Bachina. You can take the “public transportation boat”, which stops 300 meters away. But it dosen’t go after 19.45. You can also take the bus to the Opera and walk from there. It will probably be around 15 minutes.
